My Harry Potter Predictions

With book 7 almost upon us, Dani and I have been reading back through the series in preparation. In the process, we’ve been running around the house declaring predictions at each other, depending on what book we’re on. Here’s the list:

Mrs. Weasley is going to step up with some massive feat of vicious magic. A foundation of the HP series is that a mother’s love is some of the most powerful magic out there, and since she is the only significant motherly figure in the series, let alone towards Harry, I figure she’s gunna get seriously momma bear on someone’s hapless ass.

Aunt Petunia reveals herself to be a repressed wizard, or possibly a shamed squib. Sweet justice that would be. Also, magic seems to run in families.

Snape will die nobly. He swore to keep Malfoy from harm, and Snape will redeem himself by destroying Malfoy. In doing so, he’ll violate the Unbreakable Curse he made to Malfoy’s mother and keel over.

Neville will die nobly. Let’s face it. This poor kid’s been kicked around all his life, his magical powers are limited, his parents have lifetime reservations in the nuthouse, he’s in the middle of everything, and he’s as brave as he is clumsy. He’s going down for the greater good.

Voldemort will die without being redeemed. J. K. Rowling just couldn’t take the Star Wars jokes anymore. Besides, same thing happened to the Emperor.

Ron and Hermione will get it on. Finally.
