Happy Labor Day!

image by silent7seven at flickr.comI was totally going to put up Part Three of the Ubuntu series today, but then it occurred to me — Labor Day was created as a day of rest and appreciation for the union members and tradesmen that built this nation and made it great. You could say that this day of fun and sloth is supposed to make up for the relentless, boring, crushing labor you’re forced to endure the rest of the year, and you’d be right. Today is about relaxing and having a good freaking time. In that spirit, I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone and bring you a link roundup of the best personal finance articles I can find in my badly-neglected reader, thus saving me labor and allowing me to sit and enjoy reading some blogs.

It’s Not All About Dollars and Cents Over at Advanced Personal Finances, KMC takes a long hard look at the nasty habit we sometimes have about basing our economic decisions entirely on money.

Many Uses for Towels Dawn C. over at Frugal For Life is one hoopy frood who really knows were her towels are.

In Pursuit of Paperless Personal Finance It’s actually not bad advice, but goooood luck with it, JD.

Marriage and Money: Allowances For Adults? Dani and I did this for quite a while, before we got to into serious budgeting and frugality. It was also the first thing to go when we got into serious budgeting and frugality, because we learned that money earmarked for unquestioned spending will be spent. Regardless, if done right, adult allowances are an excellent first baby step in getting your spending under control. I particularly think that combining cash allowances with something like your monthly gas budget in a two-car relationship helps give the whole exercise a little bit more gravity than just handing out hers-n-hers latte money for the month.

Is It Worth The Money? Honda Civic Vs. Honda Civic Hybrid. Here’s an excellent writeup of the actual cost of hybrid vehicles right now, because, yanno, I was wondering.

If You Want To Succeed, Here’s How NOT To Promote Yourself Or Your Business What weird repurposed Kenny G music can teach you about starting a business.

Getting Over The “Taboo” Of Generics And Store Brands Do people really have this problem?

More importantly, I just went through 215 posts or so, and found 7 I actually care about. That’s a problem. Do you have any suggestions on good PF blogs you read?
