Playing with sharp objects is fun!

For whatever reason, embedding youtube vids here is a major drag, so you’re just getting a link this time.

5 clips of a fat guy stabbing, cutting, poking and otherwise destroying stuff with swords.

It’s totally fun to watch, but honestly? I could do all that with my good carving knife, and I guarantee  it cost less, and also… Mr. Sword Guy, can you mince garlic with your Scottish claymore?

I think you could mince garlik with the knife in the first video.
And I know I couldn’t do half the stuff with any of my knives.

I just took another look, and that k-bar he’s playing with in the first vid, and I don’t think it would do well in the kitchen at all. The blade is too thick side-to-side and too short spine-to-blade to chop or slice or mince effectively, the handle is great for killing, sure, because it’s round, but that shape doesn’t lend itself well to finer work, and the hand guard prevents choking up on the blade, which can be more ergonomic.

Ok, so you totally could mince garlic with that knife, but it’s really the wrong tool for it.
