SRSLY Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to get started?
A few simple items that you probably already have around the house - a large slow cooker, a freezer, and gallon-sized ziptop freezer bags. Kitchen shears are helpful, but certainly not required.
Where do I find recipes?
A bonus recipe for WTFBBQ has been provided to get you started. Additional time-tested recipes will be posted at Living Behind the Curve on Domestic Science Wednesdays, and collected here for easy reference. One of the great things about SRSLY, however, is that you can create your own meals using recipes you already have!
How do I create my own meals?
You can use any recipe that lends itself well to freezing and slow cooking. Our testing has shown that delicate items (such as fish and broccoli) and even some heartier items (such as barley, surprisingly) do not hold up well to the SRSLY process. The good news is that cheaper cuts of meat work extraordinarily well!
Is SRSLY healthy?
Because you can create your meals using your choice of ingredients, your meals can be as healthy (or as unhealthy) as you’d like them to be.
What’s with all this SRSLY stuff?
The history of SRSLY is available on the main SRSLY page here.
No, srsly. I mean, what’s with the acronyms? SRSLY? ORLYH? WTFBBQ?
What? We’re not allowed to have fun?
