SRSLY (Slowcooking Really Simplifies Life, Yo) is a time-saving alternative to both OAMC and nightly takeout.
In our quest to live our busy lives as simply and frugally as possible, we found that our eating habits were suffering greatly. Eating convenience store food was unsatisfying, but OAMC was too time-consuming - we needed an alternative that allowed us to eat well on our terms. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we decided to combine several different techniques into one, and SRSLY was born.
Using the SRSLY technique, we spend a few hours on a weekend afternoon chopping raw foods, seasoning them, and tossing them into bags. When we first began using the technique, this process took two of us 6 hours; now, depending on what we’re making, it takes us about 2-3 hours.
Now, before I leave for work in the morning, I cut a frozen meal out of its bag, drop it into the slow cooker, and turn it on low. When we arrive home 8-10 hours later, dinner is ready to eat. It really is that simple.
